Living in the real world, most drum manufacturers offer wrapped kits only on their low end products and lacquer finish kits only on their pricier sets.
This is partly because lacquer finishing does take a lot longer -- thus increasing cost, whereas wrapping shells can cover a multitude of sins and requires less production time. So, then, why wrap birch shells? Many innovations start as a break from tradition. Peace took its popular DNA kit and dressed it up in some striking new custom wraps finishes.
The result is a new look to a very substantial kit. Underneath the dazzling sensory colour assault, nine ply birch shells provide pro quality warmth, volume and projection.
The Chromadose series is available in shell packs featuring 22"x18" kick, 10"x8" and 12"x9" tom toms and 14"x14" floor tom. Snare with the Frozen Ocean finish (above) is matching 14x5.5. Snare with the Spun Aluminum finish (left) is the hammered bronze/black chrome 14x6.5 snare SD-521.
